Practical Resources

Below are resources to help faith groups seeking to support refugees and asylum seekers. They provide practical and accessible advice that will equip you to offer a faithful welcome to New Scots.

Our Resources

Sanctuary in Scotland

Our guide for Scottish faith groups interested in supporting refugees and asylum seekers. Included are facts and figures, definitions, current issues and ideas for practical action by faith communities in Scotland. It was part-funded by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.

Other Resources

Speak up for Sanctuary

This handbook, created by City of Sanctuary, is designed to support people who may have little or no previous campaigning experience to recognise their power in making change, to speak up for refugee rights and to supercharge efforts to build welcoming and compassionate communities. We highly recommend it to faith groups looking to find their voice.

Refugee Support Course

Sanctuary Foundation have created online training course for all those living, working or volunteering with refugees. The course covers topics including: safeguarding, trauma, from cross-cultural communication, community integration etc. It is free and can be accessed at this link.
