Join us for an engaging and practical workshop on how faith groups can find their voices and begin speaking up for refugees and people seeking asylum. Together with Faith in Community Scotland we will be looking at the new ‘Speak up for Sanctuary’ handbook, created by City of Sanctuary. This resource is specifically designed to help local and community groups, who may not have extensive campaigning experience, but who care about refugees. This training will help us find our voice and make our message as effective as it can be. In this short introduction we will look at topics such as:
- Why stories are more convincing than facts and figures
- Ways to find common ground with people in our communities who may not agree with us
- What the latest research says about effective messaging
- The unique role faith communities can play in this conversation
